When placed near the top, I noticed that it seemed to pull air in through the top mesh panel when RPM increased, which I don't think really aids in cooling (maybe trivial amount to some VRM, I don't have IR to measure though). I think it should be placed as low as possible. One thing about the rear exhaust slot, you can move the fan up and down but it only supports 120mm. If you don't want to remove it, ideally you would get some fans that are decent at pulling air through restrictions. The foam is basically glued to the plastic mesh. The other quirk is that although the front is mostly mesh, the foam filter is a restriction on flow. The thing is that very bottom 120mm fan will blow most of its air into the PSU tunnel unless you were to create a duct for it. The alternatives are to add a 120mm in the bottom most spot, pulling the tunnel cutout, or switch it to a 140mm which can mount lower. If you place a 120mm fan in the spot right above the PSU tunnel, I think it is a little high to efficiently feed air to a GPU cooler. There are a few quirks with this case with respect to flow. The rear exhaust spot only supports a 120mm fan. On the front panel, I have an Arctic 140mm PWM in the lower 140 spot (right above the PSU tunnel), and then I have one of the Fractal 120mm fans mounted in the upper 120mm front spot.
